吉田・須走・御殿場・富士宮
Yoshida, Subashiri, Gotemba, Fujinomiya.
Yoshida begins at 2,305 meters, runs 6.8 kilometers upward, and has the most mountain huts. The official estimate is about 6 hours 10 minutes up. It is popular for reasons that also make it crowded.
Subashiri begins at 2,000 meters, climbs 6.9 kilometers in about 6 hours 25 minutes, and starts through a forest zone before moving into volcanic terrain. It merges with Yoshida near the eighth station.
Gotemba begins much lower, at 1,440 meters. Its 10.5-kilometer ascent is the longest, with an official estimate of about 8 hours 40 minutes and fewer huts. Its long volcanic-gravel descent is a feature, not an exit ramp from preparation.
Fujinomiya begins highest, at 2,400 meters, and covers the shortest distance: 4.3 kilometers upward in about 5 hours 10 minutes. The route is steep and rocky, and climbers use the same trail to descend.
The 2026 gate rules
All four routes charge a 4,000-yen hiking fee. Yoshida closes its gate from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. for climbers without mountain-hut stays and caps non-hut entries at 4,000 people per day. On the three Shizuoka routes, entry during that same overnight window requires a hut stay, and climbers must complete safety and conservation training.
Opening periods are not guarantees
Yoshida and Subashiri are listed for July 1 through September 10. Fujinomiya and Gotemba are listed for July 10 through September 10. Snow removal, weather, volcanic information, and current management notices can still change access. Every route estimate excludes breaks.
